Flower Guild

St. Peter’s Flower Guild welcomes you to our ministry – to work with us, to contribute flowers for worship, or to help in the garden. We believe the beauty of God’s creation, changing with earthly seasons and with liturgical calendar, enriches our worship. We make it easy for parishioners who wish to donate flowers for Sunday worship as memorials or thanksgivings. We decorate the church for festival holidays of Easter and Christmas, reinforcing the joy we feel at those special times of year. Greens and palms bear witness to Advent, Lent and Palm Sunday. Red flowers remind us that it is Pentecost or St. Peter’s Day; white, All Saints.

Briefly, here is what we do:

Arrange or arrange for flowers for Sunday worship – Main altar, chapel altar, Prie Dieu; Break down the main altar arrangement into small vases for pastoral deliveries to those unable to come to church, following Sunday worship; Decorate the sanctuary for major holidays: Christmas and Easter, Palm Sunday and Harvest Sunday; For Advent, make wreaths with fresh-cut greens to hang on the church doors; Plant and maintain the Memorial Garden and perennial beds; fill planters with seasonal flowers; weed and prune.

We Welcome New Members!
Experienced Arrangers, Novices and Gardeners.

We will teach, and we can use your skills and energy. Ask in the Church Office how to join or learn more. Welcome!

St Peter's has a wonderful tradition of beautiful flowers adorning our altar for Sunday worship. The Flower Guild faithfully arranges these flowers each week. After worship they put together smaller arrangements to be taken to parishioners who are not able to get to worship or who have lost a loved one.

Make a donation in memory of a deceased loved one or in thanksgiving for an anniversary, birth, etc. This intention will be offered in our prayers and noted in the bulletin. You can fill out the online form using the button below, sign up on the sheet in the narthex (church entrance) or contact Cathy in the office. We ask for a suggested donation of $65-75 to help cover the cost of flowers.

Here are 2 other ways for you to participate:

  1. Volunteer to occasionally deliver flowers to a parishioner who because of illness or mobility issues is not able to join us for worship on Sunday. This can be done at your convenience and will assist in a really important ministry. Contact the Office if you are interested.

  2. Sign up to arrange flowers one or two Sundays a year. We know many of you are very gifted arrangers and we would love to celebrate your talent! Also, our Flower Guild works hard and could use a few Sundays off! Contact Helen Stock to find out more.
